Communication (Students)
Welcome to your “Adulting 101” masterclass. One of the most underrated skills in the college path is the ability to communicate effectively with the people who hold the keys to your future. The Communication archive is dedicated to helping you find your professional voice without losing your personality.
A lot of students feel a paralyzing “email anxiety” when they have to reach out to a teacher for a letter of recommendation or email an admissions officer to check on an application status. We’re here to help you hit “send.” In this section, we provide templates and strategies for:
– Self-Advocacy: How to talk to a teacher when you feel you were graded unfairly.
– Networking: How to reach out to a college professor or a professional in a field you’re curious about.
– Interviewing: How to turn a high-stakes college interview into a meaningful, two-way conversation.
Communication isn’t just about what you say to others, though. It’s also about how you communicate with your parents and mentors. We offer advice on how to have those “tough talks” about college choices or career paths in a way that is respectful but firm about your own goals. Mastering communication is about more than just getting into college; it’s about becoming the kind of person who can navigate any room they walk into with confidence.
